Vignette 4.0 1ST TRY

Postby KenArquitech » Fri Mar 17, 2017 11:22 pm

Hey guys,

Young aspiring architect here that mostly does competitions and concept design (wall sections not my strong suit). Couple questions.

I have my ducts right up against the bottom side of my joists. Does there need to be more adequate space?

All my footings extend past the 5'-0" frost level. Is this necessary?

Any other red flags let me know and appreciate all the help. This site has been a lifesaver for understanding these vignettes.

Ducts may be anywhere between joist and light space.

You must use the largest joist/duct combination for the required height.

No. Top of footing to frost line.

Stop non-rated partition about 6" abv clg.

Thanks coach - this was helpful

-SO ALL footings should have the top of footing to frost line?

-Is there a reason why non-rated partition terminates 6" past ceiling? Should it not end at the bottom of the respective joist?

Exterior walls only. Interior footing right below slab.

Return air plenum.

Coach- thanks again

I'm sorry I think I still need clarification regarding the Air Plenum Space. It will help me remember 6" above ceiling if I know why. For example, if the space between the finished ceiling and structural ceiling is considered to be our air plenum space then why not stop the non-rated fire wall at the finished ceiling? Does a air plenum space need at least 2" of vertical dimension to have adequate air circulation (8" from diffuser - 6" above ceiling = 2")?

Clearing this up for me would be great as I see almost all other submissions are stopping their partitions at the ceiling.

What's a non-rated fire wall?

You're overthinking it and making it harder than it needs to be. Just take non-rated walls just past clg. Can't be that hard to remember.
